Losing adult teeth can be a frustrating experience. With a loss of permanent teeth, it becomes more difficult to eat, and you may be embarrassed about gaps in your smile.

For some, losing teeth means that the shape and look of their face will change, even taking on a sunken appearance. Without teeth, the bone density of your jaw is often affected. However, all of these negative effects can be mitigated with the use of implant-supported dentures.

Implant-supported dentures have helped thousands of people regain the ability to eat and chew and to feel confident in their smiles once again.

What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Unlike conventional dentures which can slip and slide in your mouth, implant-supported dentures are attached to tiny implants placed in your jaw. These implants provide a firm anchor for your new dentures. Many patients opt for implant-supported dentures because of the comfort and security they provide.

The Procedure

Initially, we’ll do a comprehensive exam of your mouth and assess your overall health. This will help us to determine the best way to treat your dental issues. We need to make sure that you have sufficient jawbone density to support the implants we’ll be giving you.

If you are a good candidate for implant-supported dentures, we’ll help you begin the process, which begins with the placement of titanium posts in your jawbone.

It takes time for the posts to fuse to your bone and to heal. While you’re healing from your implant surgery, we’ll fit you with temporary dentures, which will allow you to eat and talk normally.

Once that process has been completed, we will bring you back into our office to receive your permanent dentures. These permanent dentures will not slip or click the way traditional dentures can, maintaining your confidence in every social situation.
