Coping With Your Dental Emergency

If you or someone you love experiences a dental emergency, it can be difficult to know what to do.

Extreme bleeding or loss of consciousness mean you need to call 911. If you suspect a broken jaw, go to the emergency room.

If the dental injury is not life-threatening, stay calm and call us right away. We can give you guidance over the phone until you are able to get into our office.Types Of Dental Emergencies

A sudden and unexpected injury to the mouth is a common dental emergency. However, there are other issues that can occur that also constitute a dental emergency. Please see the following list of emergencies that we can treat.

  • A severe toothache that persists and isn’t alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication.
  • A knocked-out tooth. In order to save your tooth, we will need to see you immediately.
  • Constantly bleeding gums. This could indicate a serious problem, so you will want to call us immediately for an appointment.
  • A broken tooth. This may not seem like an emergency, but a broken tooth can easily become infected, so give us a call as soon as possible.

Finally, if it seems like an emergency to you, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We can counsel you over the phone and help you determine whether you will need to come in for an emergency dentistry appointment. We want to restore your health and comfort as quickly as possible!

Keep us in mind as you evaluate your family’s oral health. Whether you are in the midst of an emergency or not, we are here to be your family dentist! Call us if you have any questions about dental care.
